TheSpiritual is published as an online periodical with a dedicated focus on developmental and transformational spirituality. The nature of this website is non-denominative and the concept of spirituality in TheSpiritual is largely focussed on thoughtless and egoless states of mind. While the discussion is encouraged around related concepts of mind-brain duality, body-soul duality, meditation, thoughtless-ness (wu-nien) and natural human existence, a diverse and time-less collection of literature and texts is presented as a repository of spiritual teachings and wisdom.

Spirituality is hard to define in words, for the words fall short of capturing what is essentially is a time-less, dynamic and sensitive phenomenon. One thing we can all agree upon is that we are in a state of constant motion and transformation. Our relationship with time means that everything ages, transforms and changes. The time-bound state of existence of which we are an essential part is in a constant and an incessant state of transformation. Our bodies age as much as the green leaves on a tree turn yellow. Yet, this transformation is not witnessed by us; not in the dynamic form. We only see different states of things and not the process between those states. We see a green leaf and then a yellow leaf, or various static stages of such transformation; and not the actual process of it happening. It is happening, though, and that is a fact. The video camera captures it. But, the eyes cannot. And the person or "me" who is watching it cannot. Our bodies go through the same transformation but the "me" or the "I" is oblivious of it. "I" know that I am aging, that my body cells are transforming but I am able to actually see or feel the process. One morning I get up and I see a new wrinkle, and a few more white hair, that is all. To be spiritual would mean keeping pace with the dynamism of the existence, to shine in the morning dew, swirl with the wind and cascade with the water. Without dynamism, the existence becomes static. "I" keeps collecting static information, and static spirituality. To be spiritual would mean bridging the gap between static and dynamic existences. Spirituality, in that sense, would be an outcome of such awareness.

A thinking human mind is an inquisitive mind. It keeps looking for "information"; Information that gives a perception of "knowing". As such we tend to generally believe that "we know things" because we have information about them; because we have worked them out. We also tend to apply the same principle to life and its existence. However, we cannot work out the life because we do not need to work it out. We need to actually live it, every moment of it. No information is necessary. No ego is necessary. That is why a spiritual journey is not about "achieving" or reaching somewhere. It is a state of being; being egoless, natural and aware. That is our take on spirituality.

In the near future, the site will be expanded to include spirituality-science discussion (e.g. Stephen Hawking, Paul Davies), and resources for academic research in the areas of spiritual management, workplace spirituality, consciousness management and alike.

The Spiritual looks forward to your continuous support and inspiration. It only has an on-line presence at the moment but if sufficient resources become available, a print edition is a possibility in the future.

Contributions from spiritual writers and authors from around the world are welcome. All enquiries should be directed to the editor through contact options given in the site.

Thank you.
